Glasgow Crematorium, known locally as Maryhill Crematorium, was the first to be built in Scotland. It opened in 1895. It’s since been listed for its architectural and historic importance. The old chapel is for larger services with seating for up to 150 people. And the new chapel seats about 50 people. There’s a multimedia system available so you can play your choice of music and there are screens available for video or photo tributes. Music can also be provided by the resident organists.

The crematorium offers 10-year leases for a memorial plaque in their gardens of remembrance or a space in their columbarium. An inscription in the book of remembrance is also available. If you wish to scatter the ashes of a loved one in the gardens at Maryhill Crematorium the staff will show you the designated areas to do so. If the cremation takes place at Maryhill, then there will be no charge.
