Birtley Crematorium

Birtley Crematorium is run by Gateshead Council and can be found on the same site as Birtley Cemetery. The crematorium’s chapel is suitable for both religious and non-religious ceremonies, including all denominations and sects, though it’s good to know that there is a cross on the wall of the chapel. There’s a garden of remembrance, as well as a book of remembrance.

The space is accessible, with wheelchair access and a hearing loop system. There’s limited parking in the grounds, but if the area is full crematorium staff will direct guests to park on Windsor Road, just outside the crematorium.
